Books I am Reading

February 11, 2017

I just finished Trumb Reveald and The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon.
I try not to start two books at the same time, but both of these books were so good that I read Trumb Reveals in the morning and the Amazon at night. I would recommend both of them. The Everything Store was one of the top ten business book of the year 2016. I brought back a lot of memories of when Amazon started and how they changed how we read and shop.

I enjoyed Trump Reveald. I didn’t know a lot about Trump and this was a great summary of his life and business.

This is a very powerful book about the role of women in the Civil Right Movement.
At the Dark End of the Street: Black Women, Rape, and Resistance–A New History of the Civil Rights Movement from Rosa Parks to the Rise of Black Power I learned a great deal from the book. It is interesting and easy to read.

Just finished Stealing Lincoln’s Body. Well worth the time. I found it to be a fascinating story and I learned a lot about the event. I posted a longer review on main blog page.

Just purchased With Wings Like Eagles: A History of the Battle of Britain. I am looking forward to reading it. I have seen a lot of WWII movies and read about the ground war, but haven’t ever read about the air war. I hope it is good. I’ll let you know my opinion.

The Last Stand of Fox Company: A True Story of U.S. Marines in Combat

I am 80% way through this book and really enjoying it. I am amazed how little I know
about the Korean War. This book only covers one small section of the war. But it tells an amazing story of Marines faces the worst conditions and standing their ground.

The Chinese show no regard for the lives of the men. They send them into attacks when they know they are going to lose ten men for everyone the kill. They know they have enough soldiers to win. A truly sad story.

If you haven’t read anything about Korea, you should read this book.

Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln

I truly loved this book. I bought it before I heard that President Obama liked it and it ones one of the books he was taking to the White House. It is a combination of history and political science. You will have a new opinion Lincoln after you read it and will see how President Obama’s cabinet  compares to Lincoln’s. A very enjoyable book.
